Dear Shantal,
Thanks very much for your letter.
Things over here are dull as ever. live been at Axton Chase for five months now and I still don't like most of my teachers. But what I do like about Axton Chase is that I have so many friends here.
Sometimes we go to see Mr Johnson, our caretaker, and talk to him about the latest football results. (I’m sorry, I forgot that you're not interested in football). Mr Johnson is the nicest man in our school (maybe because he isn't a teacher?). Everybody likes him. We like our headmaster too, but sometime he can be very strict. I don't think it’s easy to be headmaster of a school like Axton Chase.
I'm very good at French. I always get A's and B’s, but that's because French is one of my favourite subjects. The sub¬ject like best is humanities. One question, Shantal. Last time you wrote that you hate 'Techniek'. But no body knows what you mean. What is it in English? I'm looking forward to our next holiday, because the en I can go home again. Maybe you can come and visit us? Hope to hear from you soon.
Oh, by the way, last time you wrote you were interested in our daily routine, so I'm sending you a copy of it.
From,
Robin

shantal.JPGDear Robin,
Thanks for your (very long) letter. I like English better than French, but I think it is difficult. This letter is short because I don't know so many words yet. My teacher says that's normal when you are in the first form.
I can't tell you what 'Techniek' is in English. It isn't in my dictionary.
We don't know what your favourite subject is exactly. What does 'humanities'
mean? Please explain in simple English.
I'11 stop writing now. 1 have lots of homework, so you can see I am going to be
very busy now.
I look forward to your next letter.
Write soon, Shantal
